Remember Whose Child You Are
I’ve always loved the story of David and Goliath. David knew he could defeat this sacrilegious enemy because he had killed a lion and a bear while shepherding flocks! We all have lions and bears in our past, we have moments when we have dug deep, found God-given strength and achieved more than we thought we could. When we face adversity, when we are challenged to do better, we need to remember where and what we have been with God in the past and our hearts will surge with new strength and promise. And, in faith, we will move with God again.
When we don’t know the answer, when we cannot predict an outcome, we trust God. We employ faith. We stand in the Gap, praising God, and knowing He is on our side.
Many concerns and worries come at us, stealing sleep and peace and trust. And yet God is on His throne. God lives! God thunders through the universe just as He did in the times when Jesus walked the earth. God cares. God knows. And always keeps His word. It is a sin to give in to fear and worry once God is in our hearts. We all face trials and dark times. Faith is our refuge.
Belief is only hard in the beginning. God’s timing is God’s timing. After many years and struggles we learn God is our hope in all things. ALL. Therefore, faith becomes a habit. We start our new struggles with an unshakable faith in God’s goodness.
Knowing we are children of the God of the Angel Army should give us tremendous confidence. God takes care of us in times and trials, even while we struggle to believe we are worth it. He shows us His plan for our lives and He gently leads us onto that path. We should live lost in that great love.
Dear Lord, if I were to write out pro and con lists, the reasons a Christian lifestyle holds almost all benefits, and no drawbacks, it would take forever to identify each benefit. The calm homes, happy children, robust health, selflessness, love, sacrifice and generosity should draw others. They do ask. Wonder. And then they listen to media, or ridicule and they side with the world and ignore the Way. The difference watching young families thriving versus young families warring is heartbreaking. Thank You, God, for those who have made that choice.
Living in the Light
Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ.
