Waiting on God
This could be the number one issue Christians pray about or question. Why does it take so long sometimes for God to answer desperate or repeated prayers? We know He has the best seat in the house. We know He can call up memories or prophesied moments from the past, present or future. Sometimes the wait is because the timing is wrong. Sometimes He has a better plan. Maybe He sees trouble coming from the thing you’re asking for and He is being protective. Perhaps He even sets delays in front of us so we will exercise our minds, use the creativity He gave us and astonish the angels with our ideas! While He just smiles and says, “There it is!”
This kind of biblical trust is developed through surrendering to God’s grace and mercy. On our own, we seek to satisfy ego and we get in our own way. When we listen for God’s leading, being obedient to follow our call, we discover a deeper level of purpose. The best gift we can ever give ourselves is to align with God, accept His grace and forgiveness and never dwell on our past, our mistakes and even those things we have done that seem unforgivable. God knows what He is doing when He reaches out and offers us eternal Salvation!
There can be no greater gift than to learn to trust God for all our needs. It stops worry! It stops depression! It's the road to hope, trust and a lifetime that inspires others. God’s grace is there whether we trust it or we don't. How much more joy we would experience if we simply trusted God for every need!
At the moment, I am planning to write another novel. I'm at the foot of a mountain, writing outlines, character sketches and subplots. In the beginning this mountain can seem very high and far around, making it easy to believe I cannot complete the task. It’s easy to sit in fear and insecurity, thinking I'm too old, too irrelevant, too past my time in the sun. But God! I will not listen to the enemy. I will write this thing and trust God to make a way if He wants a way. I love knowing He is holding my hand and believing in me more than I believe in me!
Dear Lord God, why must I always want what I want when I want it? You have never left me in the midst of my need. When I’ve had to wait, it has always turned out Your timing is better than anything I can imagine. I trust the gift You placed in me. I know I am a scribe, a writer, a keeper of words. As I reach in obedience to answer every call, I pray You will help me hear clearly, respond correctly and keep perfect notes. Help me love Your timeline and understand when delays keep me holding my breath for long periods of time. Thank You for loving me.
