When unchecked, negative thoughts can play havoc in our minds. We know we are supposed to take every thought captive but that can be difficult. Especially when we’re not consistent. “We are destroying arguments and all arrogance raised against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.” 2 Corinthians 10:5

The devil likes to pass the serving dishes at our tables. Safety comes when we focus on God. As we continue to walk with God, He is reaching for our hand. He will allow the training and the struggles, but we are never alone. We belong to Him. We are blessed with the purity and joy of a God-filled life. He has had a plan for us that He envisioned long before we were born. Just trust the plan.

Taking every thought captive puts a lot of responsibility on us. We have to monitor the things we read, watch and talk about. While it is important to understand current events, it is not mandatory to watch the evening news. There is an intentional negative tone to local, state and national news stories. When things are dangerous, threatening or out of control, we will surrender independence and even civil rights to feel safe. Conversations at work or among friends can be negative as well. Other people’s fears are contagious. Always remind them God is in control. “A thousand may fall at your side And ten thousand at your right hand, But it shall not approach you. Psalm 91:7

If we do not control our thought life, the enemy can scare us to death. We wear the armor of God. We are surrounded by an Angel Army. Enjoy the incredible strength and gifts. We serve a mighty God.

Lord, Thank You for thinking of everything. From the moment You walked through the cool evenings with Adam and Eve in the Grden of Eden, until now when You walk with me through all the days of my life, You have loved Your people and kept every promise. Help me focus on Your wisdom and ignore the world’s false hopes and lies.

For the word of God is living and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, even penetrating as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Hebrews 4:12
