I wish we could all understand the power Jesus gave us before He ascended. Not only did He say we could do all the things He did and more, He also left us with the Holy Spirit, the Helper He promised to give. I spend a lot of time trying to comprehend the power of moving a mountain. A friend, a believer, said, “Oh, I don’t think we’re meant to take that literally.” But I do. If we throw out some Scriptures, don’t we have to throw them all out? Jesus said with enough faith I could move a mountain. I have not moved one yet. My assumption is my faith is lacking. Jesus once told the wind and the waves and the sea to calm down. Instantly they were still. He knew His authority! He knew who He was.

Jesus knew He could turn water into wine, calm seas, heal blindness and perform miracles. He came from Heaven. He was present when God created the earth and all it contains. With God, to think something is to create it. No limitations. We have only known the 3-dimensional world, and we understand gravity, molecular structure and all the limitations the world presents. To move a mountain or walk on water, we must make a colossal leap of faith. I disagree with my friend who would simply edit the Bible to fit her level of belief. I think we have the power to move a mountain, but we are far from understanding the faith such magnificent power requires.

Father God, help me understand mountain moving faith. It is light years beyond the level of faith most of us have achieved. I can pray for AND believe for strength to win a race, pass a test, or build a house. There are no scientific limitations to those prayers. But send a sundial back ten steps? Only You have that power, Lord. I pray I can relate to those promises Jesus made before He ascended. I can develop stronger faith line upon line and precept upon precept. I know there exists a faith that is complete and perfect, a faith that trembles with power and authority. Help me seek higher authority every day and may I always rejoice as my understanding grows.

So Isaiah the prophet asked the Lord to do this, and he caused the shadow to move ten steps backward on the sundial of Ahaz! 2 Kings 20:11
