There are temptations during our coming of age, desires to take what we want or to do those things we know with certainty are neither healthy nor kind. We serve our own needs and then excuse our own selves. Thank God, He is a loving Father. He not only forgives but he leads us in positive directions where serving Him allows us to repent and become the people He designed us to be!

However, sometimes we struggle to forgive ourselves. Whether it’s memories we think about as we’re falling asleep, encounters with old friends from back in the day, or even our family members who remind us of the things we did growing up, those old behaviors can follow us straight into our Salvation. Guilt carries its own kind of punishment. We start thinking people know everything about us. That they know those things we remember on sleepless nights. But you’ve already repented. And the Word says God throws the memory of repented sins into the sea of forgetfulness. Make your story your testimony. That way, anyone fighting memories of similar bad choices can relate and you may help them understand God’s forgiveness is total.

Father, I feel Your love. I thank You for forgiving me and offering me a fresh start in life. I believe You no longer even remember what I did and I know these are just things the enemy uses to make me feel unworthy and cut off from You. Your love has set me free. I ask You to help me forgive myself and move on in ways that further the Kingdom of God. I long to serve You and love You all the days of my life.

My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20
