Anxious for Nothing
I cannot imagine anything stronger in our lives than establishing full joy in the Lord. Feelings of surrender and trust accompany that level of relationship. When we can’t fix something in our lives, it is amazing to hand it over to God, to celebrate Him and find our joy as He finds the solution.
Stress and anxiety affect many people. God has promised He watches over our lives. If we pray for safe travel and then worry over every dangerous situation, our faith in God’s protection is not strong. Worry is completely useless and we should willingly refuse to give in to it.
Trust God, thanking Him for all He has done already. Have faith in His good will, His many promises, and His desire to pour blessings out upon us. Faith in His promises is stronger than fear.
I have many beloved memories from the days I raised teenagers. If they missed a curfew or I just felt concern, I would always pray. The Word is true! God always gave me a sense of peace, an assurance they were on their way or just that they were safe. Child after child, God kept me peaceful and free of fear in circumstances where I would certainly have struggled without Him!
It is an effective tool to call on God the moment anxiety or fear try to capture your attention. Fear is your enemy! The moment God steps onto the scene fear and worry flee.
The Bible reminds us to take every thought captive. We cannot just say we are given to worrying. We aren’t. We can control all paralyzing feelings. Just saying we trust God is not the same as surrendering our fears and giving them all to a loving Father.
Dear Lord, Thank You for Your love and protection. Thank You for providing a manual that addresses the wisdom of a God-centered life. I am sorry Father for the times I surrendered to human emotions and allowed those feelings to affect my trust in You. Help me shelter in the shadow of Your love, to rest in the promises You have made. Thank You for such great love.
Do Not Worry
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? ... Matthew 6:25-34
