Sometimes all we have is trust. And it is enough. Praise God! The more we pray for others, even though they might not like us or they wish us harm, the easier it is to do again. God’s Word suggests repeatedly that we pray for others. He even says its sort of pointless to pray for those who will quickly pray for us as well. Matthew 5:43-45 says, 43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor[a] and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.
It is delightful to know God has plans for us. Live expectantly. Live knowing God hides surprises around the next corner. He blesses us with the same delight we feel when we bless our children. Remember when the one thief crucified with Jesus, asked to join Him in Paradise? I’m glad Jesus said they would see Heaven that very day.
It is never easy to imagine we will disappear like the flowers at the end of summer. But it’s only sad if we live with an earthly mind. Once we leave, we begin living with Jesus for eternity which isn’t a sad situation at all.
Even though He suffered and died on the cross, Jesus was at all times aware of the bigger picture. He knew the goal was Salvation for all mankind and He was willing to pay the price.
As we go through life, we lose parents, grandparents and often siblings. It is rough. Blessed is the family that has never lost a child. Still, we trust God and we move on. Believing and knowing we have an eternal home with God makes trusting Him and our eternity easy!
Lord, Sometimes I feel eager to walk the streets of Heaven, to see the loved ones who went before me and to see colors and plants that are just too beautiful for earth. I can indeed only imagine what it will be like. I pray, Lord, that You will tarry a season longer as there are still so many who have not surrendered. Help me. Lord, to write more, testify more, speak louder and pray harder so every person meant to follow Jesus hears the message and falls to their knees. Help me not to waste a single moment I am here. Let my prayers touch hearts, reach doubts and bore through stubborn fears.
