God’s grace and forgiveness are remarkable gifts. If they were His only gifts, it would be amazing. But He also gave us eternal life, the love of Jesus and the Bible, which provides wisdom and guidelines. When we concentrate on God’s love, His approval and favor, we are able to overcome the comparisons and doubts the world embraces. Fears and condemnation trap people in failure and inaction. Once we experience God’s mercy, His incredible love and forgiveness, we realize He has not rejected us at all. Buoyed by His love, we can become all He created us to be.

It is difficult to imagine God’s level of affection. He is forgiving, generous and eager to bless us. While His words are always true and He demands obedience, He also is a Father. He blesses us because He loves us. Jesus told Peter to forgive offenses seventy times seven. So we know God is a God of second chances. And third chances. Christians should walk through this world with confidence. They walk with God. They hold His hand. He protects them.

Seeing ourselves through God’s eyes is not easy. It is easier to see and love others than it is to love ourselves. God knew us before we were born; He knew things we would do and be. He knew choices we would make and each crisis we would face. He anticipated the moment we surrendered our lives to Him and He knew we were meant to be a part of His family.

Father God, You hold me safe and I love You dearly. I know You are with me in good times and in challenges. I know Your angels are around me and my every step is watched over by Your tender care. I thank You, Father, that You call me Your own and that You grafted me into Your family.

Because you are God’s children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into us to call out, “Abba!  Father!” Galatians 4:6
