As we grow and learn, when we discover a deep interest or talent, we have a tendency to think it’s our purpose in life, the very reason we were born. It could be, of course. Sadly, most people then begin to think such thoughts are likely pride, ego or imagination. We are more willing to believe we have an out-of-control ego than we are to believe God actually chose us to fulfill a destiny He planned.
God chooses people! According to Jeremiah 1:5, God said, “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. Before you were born, I set you apart for my holy purpose. I appointed you to be a prophet to the nations.” Never doubt your value to God. Never doubt His ability to prepare your personality, skillset and training to be exactly what He needs at any given moment. We have to pray for clarity, so we hear distinctly and with no guilt, what it is God is saying to us. Learn God’s voice. When you hear Him speak, obey. Far better to trust God than to fear ridicule or misunderstanding from others.
Non-Believers will not understand when you say, “God said…” How could they? Many times, the thing God asks us to do is the thing we have longed to do for years. It is the thing we read about and want to understand better. If we still want clarity about God’s will, pray. Ask Him to reveal His desires for your life.
Lord God, Help me understand what I’m meant to do with my life. I want to function in the way You prepared me. I am sorry I have so many doubts. I do not want people to think I am crazy when I say I hear Your voice. I never want to be the reason someone refuses to believe in You, Lord. Help me be obedient and of a sound mind every day. Lord, let me listen and follow Your will no matter what people think.
”For example, we were eyewitnesses when he received honor and glory from God the Father and when the voice of our majestic God spoke these words to him: “This is my Son, whom I love and in whom I delight.” 2 Peter 1:17
