Anxiety
If anxiety had a face it would look like the devil. Anxiety steals every good thing it can find inside us. It pretends to be good, a warning system, just keeping us on our toes. When anxiety gets a foothold, it raises financial fears, health worries, relationship issues and every other topic of life that we use as benchmarks for our value. It has the power to plunge us into depression. Recognize anxiety as an enemy. Pray!
Finding full joy in the Lord is our safe place. Surrender and trust accompany true relationship with God. When we can’t fix something in our lives, we need to hand it over to God, to celebrate Him and find our peace while He finds the solution.
Stress and anxiety affect people around us. If we pray for safe travel and then worry over every dangerous situation, our faith in God’s protection is not strong. Worry is a waste of time. Trusting God, thanking Him for all He has done, convinces us of His good will, His many promises, and His desire to pour blessings out upon us. Faith in who He is is much greater than our fears.
I have many beloved memories as I raised teenagers. If they missed a curfew or I just felt concern, I would pray. The Word is true! God would give me a sense of peace, a word that they were on their way or just that they were safe. Child after child, God kept me peaceful and free of fear in circumstances where I would certainly have struggled without Him!
It is an effective tool to call on God the moment anxiety or fear try to capture our attention. Fear is our enemy! The moment God steps onto the scene fear and worry flee.
Father God, Help me to keep my eyes on You. Help me remember Jesus died for me, You gave me life and help and hope, and I have nothing to fear except fear itself. I have the God of the Universe walking beside me, the God who commands the Angel Army, the God who owns the cattle on a thousand hills. Help me to hold Your hand and boldly march into every life situation knowing we’ve already won. Thank You, God, for letting us read the end of the Book.
New Living Translation
21 Some people work wisely with knowledge and skill, then must leave the fruit of their efforts to someone who hasn’t worked for it. This, too, is meaningless, a great tragedy. 22 So what do people get in this life for all their hard work and anxiety? 23 Their days of labor are filled with pain and grief; even at night their minds cannot rest. Ecclesiastes 2:21-23
