There is something empowering and faith building when we understand God’s plan for the world, His timing. What feels like forever is a moment in His view. But His words, His promises, His plan will always come to fruition. When we watch the world rebel and mock Him, when sin seems to prevail everywhere, we know God will not be mocked. He will move and He will always always always keep His word.
I imagine at one time or another, every Christian has considered the moment Jesus returns and they witness the shock and awe on non-believer’s faces. I suppose it would be hard not to say, “We tried to tell you.” The truth is this will be such a sad time for the ones who will be lost. And for their families. Rather than imagine the weeping and wailing of that situation, let us spend our time reaching out in pure love to those who so far have rejected Jesus’ message. Let us invite them to our homes, cook for them, watch movies, play ball, and live all the joys of human life alongside them. We can only tell them what we believe and why we believe it. We can only show them a life where even though there are challenges and trials, we walk fearlessly through the hard places.
Lord, we come to You today, asking our hearts be softened toward those who have yet to follow You. Let us never give up on anyone while You still believe they will be Saved. Your grace has enveloped us in love. We have enjoyed the miracles of Your creation, the sunsets, oceans, animals and beauty that take our breath away. Each day is a gift, an opportunity to love others and to do Your will. We pray we will always tell the story of Jesus to people we meet and we will show them through love and generosity they are important to You and to us.
Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:12-20
