God’s Beautiful Design

When we stop and ponder the beauty of the earth, the miracles of humanity, we see how our gifts and talents intertwine to create a great orchestra and its resounding melodies of life. Only God could create such intricate wonder.

When we lose our focus, turn toward the world, God lovingly confronts us. He exposes our sins and calls us to accountability. Some are called much sooner than others. I encountered God at the age of 18. I was alone, watching a Billy Graham crusade on television. I fell to my knees in front of the television and gave my heart to Jesus. I wish I could say I served Him ever after. I didn’t. I became caught up in drama, hormones, relationships and divorce. In 1992 God reminded me I belonged to Him. It was a full on encounter. I heard Him. I knew He was speaking. I fell to my knees, repenting for all my selfish mistakes. That time it took. I have been in church every Sunday since if I was in town. We became tithers immediately. Now I hold myself to a higher standard in all things. I still make mistakes, still sin unintentionally. But God is my focus, my love and my direction.

Without Jesus Christ, the world writhes in sin and brokenness. The lost ignore Jesus’ voice and calling.  We need to wake up, open our eyes to see and our ears to hear. These are the sounds and sights of people on their way to hell if we do not go to them with a message of Salvation. Take time today to thank God for the person who loved you enough to lead you to the Lord.

It is emotional and thrilling when we are first Saved. The exhilaration, the hope and even the great relief that we have finally surrendered consumes us. Then the reality of Christian life sets in. The new wears off. We receive pushback from family and from our culture. It is through enduring, standing firm and keeping our word, we discover growing maturity. Eventually we read the Word with a meat and potatoes appetite and our need for a milk diet is in the past.

To live as children of God, we live in hope. We know God is faithful, His word is true and He cares about us. In absolute faith we spread our hope in Him like a carpet on the path that is our life. With our measure of faith, we forge through life’s challenges, following that great hope back to God.

When we stay on God’s planned path, when we listen and are obedient to His Word, we live in divine glory.  We reflect His love and we exude the grace we have learned at His feet.  To watch young families thrive in laughter and happiness, as opposed to the bickering, power plays and struggles we see in less spiritual people, is a true lesson.  Why do people suffer and fuss when surrender feels so amazing?

Lord God, Thank You for bringing me into Your family.  I now understand if I want a friend I have to be a friend, if I want to be loved, I must love others.  Help me to stay connected to the truth that You love me and want only good things to happen in my life.  I am Your child.  Thank You for helping me learn I cannot reflect love I don’t feel for myself, I cant love others if I cannot forgive and even like myself, and I cannot shine as I go about the Harvest unless my whole heart longs to see all who are lost come into Your feast.

Our great desire is that you will keep on loving others as long as life lasts, in order to make certain that what you hope for will come true.  Hebrews 6:11
