Matthew 12:25

God’s love changes lives in miraculous ways. I have seen people transform from chaos and struggle to peace, happiness and success because they dared to trust God. They have stopped orchestrating their own lives and surrendered to Him. I’ve seen angers conquered, marriages saved, addictions overcome and families restored. In my church life I witness fulfilled families and strong couples. From this perspective it is hard to understand why people resist a loving God.

I remember when I refused to surrender to God. I thought I had to be in control, had to direct my own destiny and show God all the things I could accomplish. My control was out of control. My family struggled financially and emotionally and my husband and I not only didn’t agree on how to raise children, we sabotaged each other’s methods. What I didn’t know, could not understand from where I was with God, was He had provided a text book that taught people how to live, get along, and live life in a productive fashion. Sadly, that marriage did not survive. My entire family would have imploded if my son hadn’t been invited to church by a friend. Eventually I followed him and then his siblings followed me. Line upon line, precept upon precept, God rescued us, healed our wounds, and put the greatest teaching tool of all time (the Bible) into our hands. That was nearly forty years ago. I cannot imagine going back to a life where I thought I had to control everything. Let go and let God show you His better way.

Lord God, thank you for rescuing me. For showing my children I could find a better way and I could do it for them. I am grateful for all the families I see, families living in harmony, following biblical family structure, not striving with each other for power but rather giving grace and love. The storms of life grow calm when we understand the ten commandments work, when the golden rule makes sense and when we prefer peace over chaos. Lord, help every family that has found Your peace and order be an example to others that the struggle can become a blessing.

Jesus knew their thoughts and replied, “Any kingdom divided by civil war is doomed. A town or family splintered by feuding will fall apart. Matthew 12:25
