I have been praying intentionally every day for quite some time now. Years. I use a list because it is easy to forget promised prayers or important issues. Some days I just pray the list. There are other days, special days, when I catch fire or maybe God catches fire in me. Then I am feeling empathy, compassion, or passion for the world. I feel God. I hear prompts from Him, people to see or call. Prayer occasionally is a two way encounter and that can be spectacular!

Always listen for God, for His prompts, His leading. In rough times, difficult financial, relational, health or war times, we need to be especially tuned in to God's heart. There are those times we've all experienced when we think of someone as soon as we wake or we are prompted to say a prayer for them. Try to heed those reminders. God always knows the ones who need prayer, the ones crying out in their situation or their fear. He is calling His prayer warriors to the need. Political situations are much the same. God knows where the crisis points are and He is waiting for the Body of Christ to drop to their knees and pray. Be faithful to pray but also be faithful to heed God's call.

Dear God, please help me to be not just a prayer but a prayer who knows how and when to pray. Let me always be sensitive to Your voice and to bless those people and situations where crisis or a tipping point are close. I choose to never just focus on my family, my little needs and desires, but rather on those things where you lead me to pray. This world is so much more complicated than my limited view. Help me trust Your view. Praying for others is a gift and I thank you for allowing me to do that.

But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and the fruit of good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere. James 3:17
