When God makes a request, it feels like any success or failure falls 100% on our shoulders. That can be intimidating. The truth is, when God asks us to do something, He provides everything we need to accomplish the job. He doesn’t need us to do this. He wants us to participate. If we question or whine, He will move on to someone more willing to do the hard work.

Even as a child, I knew I was called to be a writer. I couldn’t wait to learn letters and spelling, to sharpen pencils and smell the exotic wonder of fresh school supplies. Eventually, I made it to classes, filled my hungry soul with knowledge, and realized my dreams of writing. I have worked for newspapers, corporations and churches. While I see myself as non-confrontational, I enjoy being a warrior with words.

I love revelation and the indwelling Holy Spirit where every step we take, every decision we make, every breath and every move is shared with God. Once we understand our behavior reflects on God, we change. We become an instrument of salt and light, responsible to reflect the Kingdom of God righteously.

The world is a bit gloomy at the moment. But God is alive, working in us and He is doing miracles every day. Remember at the crucifixion? How the devil thought he’d won? Instead, Salvation was established and a new covenant was introduced. The world can look hopeless, loveless and dying until we remember we have read to the end of the Book and we win! Pick up your talent, connect to the call on your life and march into your destiny!

We see a lot of corruption and greed masquerading as victims. When Seattle allowed a rebellious mob to take over a police station and to kill two of their own young members, while they claimed to lead hungry and destitute lives, they were actually brutal, burning police cars, harming and scaring people. It’s a struggle to know who my hungry, naked or hurting brother is.

Lord God, Help me live more like Jesus. There is a call on every life, talent and necessary empathy and compassion. Suffering is not a reason to lash out and harm others. There is no righteousness in throwing indiscriminate rage at a wall or a room or an entire building. Especially when the ‘victims’ can live in your mirror. Sometime anger is just cruelty wearing a pompous disguise and we need revelation to avoid being hoodwinked. Let wisdom meld with love and compassion and let goodness be a goal we all desire.

And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love. 2 John 1:6
