There is always hope.

Current reports of earthquakes, floods, war and domestic violence can jeopardize our peace and sense of safety. It is natural to feel relief when we escape unharmed but it is always important to pray for those who were not as blessed. We never know when we will encounter problems or danger. That is especially important if we have yet to give our hearts to Jesus. Pray for those who choose to reject or ignore God. Life without Hm can be terrifying.

I am comforted that God never leaves me. No matter what. He is with me in joy and He is with me in sorrow. He is with me in prosperity and He is with me in want and need. As our world deals out uncertainty, peril and fear, we find tranquility in God. Though a thousand fall on our right and 10,000 on our left, we remember His promises and put our trust in Him. God’s promises to us are Yes and Amen. We cannot surrender to fear which is meant to paralyze us and keep us from the things God has called us to do.

It is in our trials and testing we develop deeper faith. It is easy to be a Christian when everything is going smoothly in life and blessings are abundant. It is when the storms come that we are tempted to run from God and turn to ourselves for the answers. Stop. Turn around. Hit your knees. God is waiting for your return.

Whatever the future holds, you are a child of God, you have a purpose and a call, and God will push and prod, gently bringing you straight through doubt. And once He walks you through, He will help you accomplish everything He has called you to do.

Lord, I am sorry I submit to fear at times. Help me remember You have promised to hold me safe in the shadow of Your love. When I was young, I always felt as if every house was like my house, every Grandma prayed safety over all the children. Now it seems many people don’t want You in their schools, their homes or even their hearts. If You are love and we obey the Ten Commandments, if we live with kindness and generosity, who do we hurt? How do we reach the people who mock You and say You are not a good God? How can we help them trust You? It is hard to turn the other cheek when people call me homophobic or racist when I know that is not who I am. Still, Lord, help me continue to pray for good lives and great blessings for those who seem so angry.

Assurance of God’s Eternal Protection

Hear my cry, O God; Attend to my prayer. From the end of the earth I will cry to You, When my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For You have been a shelter for me, A strong tower from the enemy. ... Psalm 61
