God’s love is patient. Even when we procrastinate, meandering a haphazard path through all the activities and plans we make for ourselves, He forgives and encourages us until at last we pick up His mantle and move in the direction of His call. He never regrets the talent He put inside us, never threatens to take it away. He waits. Patient. Loving. Believing the very best of us and expectantly rejoicing when we finally obey! That is love.
There have been hundreds of books written about identifying our talent or our call. Most people operate in their gift, even if they believe it is simply what they like to do. Many use their gift in their work life as well as their spiritual life. But not always. Because I recognized my gift around age eight, I think most children instinctively know what they are meant to do.
Do we have to identify God’s call on our lives? I think it helps. But it’s not imperative. Whether we gravitate to politics, planning events, hosting, organization or any of the creative arts, there are places waiting for us in the Body of Christ. Righteous politicians who believe in law and order would be a huge blessing right now. An orderly nation requires boundaries, borders, and bold leadership. Whatever it is we love to do is a good place to start looking for the reason God made us just the way we are.
Father God, I am grateful for Your love and that You included me in the Body of Christ. Thank You for making me fit with my brothers and sisters, for including me in a plan that fills the needs of the church, the people and the world outside the church doors. I thank You my call will not only bless the church, but it will bless people who have not yet found Salvation. Help me respond to everyone’s needs, hearing Your voice and knowing exactly what You’ve called me to do.
“Moses continued,⌟ “So Bezalel and Oholiab will do the work as the Lord has commanded. They will do this with the help of every other craftsman to whom the Lord has given the necessary skills and talents. They will know how to do all the work for constructing the holy place.” Exodus 36:1
