God’s protection is a gift. We are His beloved. He watches over us, just as He promises in the Word. Psalm 91 speaks to the security of those who trust in the Lord. “One who dwells in the shelter of the Most High Will lodge in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I trust!” For it is He who rescues you from the net of the trapper And from the deadly plague. ...
More than thirty Scriptures detail powerful promises of protection. The three-strand cord advises us to hook up with other Christians and pray in agreement. “And if one can overpower him who is alone, two can resist him. A cord of three strands is not quickly torn apart.” Ecclesiastes 4:12
When I pray over my family, I always pray we will be safe from war, bombs and explosions. I didn’t used to pray that way. What changed? It was the war in the Ukraine. One day the people in the Ukraine were living much like we live in America. Shopping, taking their kids to school, going to work. Seemingly, out of nowhere, bombs and drones began to come at them from Russia. We do not know what challenges we will face in an ever-changing world. We do not know what timing and method the end times will take but one would have to be completely unaware not to see the writing on the world’s walls. We live in a world in turmoil.
Traditions are dear to the old and a nuisance to the young. Most young people feel everything will be all right now that they have arrived on the scene. All need God’s hand of protection but the young are still laboring under the delusion they can take care of themselves. Let’s focus on God, trust His promises, and consider carefully the traditions we want to toss.
Lord God, Thank You for Your love, Your hand upon me, and Your promises to keep Your children safe. Let my trust be childlike as I feel Your arms around me. Keep me from foolishness, Lord, from throwing out fleece to test You and asking You for signs and wonders. Help me recognize Your voice and to love the act of obedience.
God, the Refuge of His People.
