I am not a big fan of change. But when we love to serve God, we are often led to new ideas or directed onto a new path. The Christian life is a serving life. We don't usually choose our own direction since we’re required to serve where and how God leads us. Life has many Plan Bs for those who do not listen and obey but they never bring the fullness and the joy that comes from following God’s leading straight to His plan for our lives.
I cannot remember a time when I questioned my call. I always knew my talent and my life’s direction would involve writing. As a child, I told stories. As soon as I could create the alphabet, I tried to write my stories down, begging people to spell words for me. With my own children, I paid particular attention to their interests and skills around the ages of six to eight years old. I’ve seen many children gravitate naturally to their inborn talent. I have met people who did not seem to know what they were called to do within the Body of Christ. And perhaps some things are more difficult to pin down. Prophecy and words of knowledge can seem vague. It is definitely worth the effort to discover exactly what you are called to do.
Lord God, right now I ask You to reveal where You have called me to work on Your behalf. Show me where I have the background, the skills and even the training to operate within my church. Lord, help me love the call on my life. Whether I think I am qualified or not, You think I am. Let me follow Your direction and begin to operate cheerfully in whatever position You planned for me.
“ If the foot says, “I am not a part of the body because I am not a hand,” that does not make it any less a part of the body. 16 And if the ear says, “I am not part of the body because I am not an eye,” would that make it any less a part of the body? 17 If the whole body were an eye, how would you hear? Or if your whole body were an ear, how would you smell anything?”
1 Corinthians 12: 15-17
