In today’s society, immorality is celebrated and morality is mocked. This presents an unconventional philosophy that is confusing at best. For all our “modern” technology and sophistication, human beings are literally no different than they were in ancient Israel, filled with the rebellious sin that was rampant before the fall of the Jewish people. Without God, people lose their moral compass. Greed overwhelms kindness and perversion destroys human empathy. We need to cling to God and trust He has our backs. We are a generation that will see atrocities and realize no matter how educated a culture becomes, it is only as civilized as the behavior it condones.
Our culture is going through a season where we’re wrestling with who we are. Are we world leaders who will act as global mentors? Are we puppets who live to experiment with gender and explosive topics, willing to see what helps or hurts humans before we decide how far we can go? For Christians it is challenging. The Bible is clear that not everything is moral I believe we are meant to act out of love when we deal with individuals. It is not loving when we demean people, laugh about their choices, and more or less dismiss them. This is such a controversial topic and I guarantee a lot of people disagree with me. Ultimately, I’ve chosen to be kind. I stay away from the sin but not the sinners.
Father, I am praying for wisdom. How should we approach today’s difficult moral choices? I know You have answers. In the Old Testament You had no tolerance for outrageous sin, lust and a culture that embraced every kind of perversion. Thank you that You are God. You do not expect us to know everything. The Bible says You are the same yesterday, today and forever. I am confident Your answer is coming. God, I pray for mercy and grace. There is nothing new under the sun and You have seen cultural revolution before. Bless Your people. Bless this world.
Run from anything that stimulates youthful lusts. Instead, pursue righteous living, faithfulness, love, and peace. Enjoy the companionship of those who call on the Lord with pure hearts. 2 Timothy 2:22
