A disciplined and intentional prayer life leads to more intimacy with the Father and makes our goal of following Jesus easier. We cannot be in a relationship with God if we only go to Him in a crisis. He is a daily Friend, a true Father and His closeness to us relies on our obedience. Talk to Him daily and watch your life change and improve
The power and impact of prayer life increase when we spend more time talking with God. Some people only pray when they are in trouble or worried. Awkward, desperate prayers. When we use God like a “Get out of Jail free” card, we can’t really build a loving relationship with Him. An intentional prayer life is usually organized and planned. A set time. I use a list. Because I want to be faithful to address the people and situations I have committed to pray for. We should pray in faith, knowing we want God’s will to be done in every situation, but we also seek healing or relief for others. Our government, our nation, our schools, churches and culture affect not only our lives but the lives and welfare of many others. Praying beyond ourselves, beyond our family needs, expresses a true concern for God’s people. Spending time with God is rewarding and uplifting.
Father, I love spending time with you, sharing my gratitude and my worries. I remember your promises, the moments you have touched me with Your amazing comfort. I read the love scriptures and I count the many times you have made me feel safe. Thank you that I can bring my friends before you, standing in the gap for them as they struggle with life issues. Lord, so often I reach toward the hem of your robe, knowing a spiritual touch from you is healing, knowing you long to show me your love and your provision. Please cover our world with Your protection, Your miracles and Your power. Lord, we ask for revival and a reawakening of worship.
“My prayer is not for the world, but for those you have given me, because they belong to you. John 17:9
