Fear Interrupts Faith
When we allow fear to monopolize our thinking, it consumes much more than we intended. Fear freezes forward motion. It controls our thoughts and replays the crimes we saw on last night’s news. The objective of unsettling news reports is to convince us the world is dangerous and we should rely on local government. When, in reality, we should simply trust God more.
Fear about anything is a waste of time. God heals. God provides. God rescues. God loves. God spreads a net of safety wherever we go. Once we understand our position in His family, fear evaporates.
God is present in all things. At all times, today and every day, we know He is near and His hand is on our enemies. To underestimate God is reckless. He can indeed do anything! He moves mountains. He sends the sun backward in the sky. He parted the Red Sea.
It isn’t just doing something that matters. It is doing something for God! Obedience. Answering His call, utilizing the talents He gave us. Never take credit for those skills. They are gifts from God. In these times when fear about the ways of the world could leave us with heavy hearts, when loud voices, clamoring for recognition and trust, struggle to steal our peace and joy, the simple prayer, “Please God, Your will be done,” should rule our thoughts and quiet times. In the end, when turmoil tries to steal peace, peace with God reigns supreme. No matter what.
Lord God, forgive me for those times when I surrender to fear, when I focus on the danger that surrounds me and I forget Your promises. Leviticus 26:8 sys, “Five of you will chase a hundred, and a hundred of you will chase ten thousand, and your enemies will fall by the sword before you.” You gave us faith! A great measure of faith. We forget the great Army of God, mounted and waiting for Your orders on the hills. The fact You promised there are more for us than against us. Help me, Lord, to know I am Your child and I have nothing to fear except fear itself.
For it is written: “‘He will command his angels concerning you to guard you carefully; Luke 4:10
