Anxiety is a waste of our time. Trusting God, thanking Him for all He has done, convinces us of His good will, His many promises, and His desire to pour blessings out upon us. Faith in who He is is much greater than our fears.

It is tough to go through periods of anxiety, nervousness, self-doubt and insecurity. With no intention to minimize the pain, it is a good practice to stay in the Word, to keep praying and to focus on who God says we are. Our culture has an unhealthy emphasis on appearance, popularity, talent and position. When we watch too many commercials, we can begin to compare ourselves to images that are air brushed, edited and completely unrealistic. When we read who God says we are, we find we are perfect and dearly loved by Him. We understand He saw us before we were even born and He designed us with specific talents. He has a plan for each person’s life. Negativity is rampant these days. But God asks us to see ourselves as He sees us and that is the perfect way to see yourself as a well-loved child of the King.

Father God, help me to keep my eyes on You, to remember I am Your creation and You have known my place in the Body of Christ from the moment You formed me in my mother’s womb. Help me understand I am perfect in Your eyes. I long to listen for Your voice and understand Your will. Lord, I pray for the confidence to believe what You say about me more than what I say or the world says. Poor self-image and anxiety are lies the world uses to bring me down. Let me always rise with You, Lord, and help me become exactly who You designed me to be.

See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him. Dear friends, we are already God’s children, but he has not yet shown us what we will be like when Christ appears. 1 John 3:1
