God places a unique gift in each of us.  Some people are convinced they didn’t get one but I think they did.  Often the problem is they didn’t get the gift they wanted.   To God, the gifts are equal in importance.  People on the other hand, prefer the gifts of Prophecy and Words of Knowledge.  Or Healing.  Helps ministry and Hostessing gifts have positive responses because they require creativity.  There are the Arts, the writing and the painting.  We have all seen movies or heard preachers whose messages can cause us to drop to the floor, changed forever. We are born with a purpose. Remember those craftsmen who built the original temples, those people who could follow God’s blueprints with blue, purple and scarlet thread? We are no less gifted. If we choose to hide the talent God gave us, if we refuse to use it in a Kingdom way, we break God’s heart and He has to send someone else.

Do something with the gift.  Educate it.  Develop it.  We can double its effectiveness just by using it.  We can use our talents, gain experience, and multiply our skill.  Or, we can hide our talent, let it lie useless and dormant, and watch God’s dismay at the terrible waste.  Nothing will be greater than the shame felt when we face Jesus, telling him we hid our talent so it wouldn’t be judged. Or criticized.  When we explain it just didn’t feel good enough.  Dare. Risk. Take a chance. Trust God that the gift entrusted to us is more than enough to empower the kingdom!

If you are still convinced you don’t have a gift from God, try becoming a spotter for other people’s gifts.  Do you have friends that sing?  I remember a time I went to an impromptu talent show.  A guy got up to sing.  He sang a well known Broadway song.  It was beautiful.  I’d known him a long time and I’d never heard him sing.  I stood in the dark, feeling his song, his obvious passion for the lyrics, his beautiful tone and the gift he was pouring out on all of us like a fine oil, and I wept.  I had only had that experience one other time and that was at the dancing fountains at the Bellagio in Las Vegas.  Beautiful gifts evoke beautiful emotions.  We are all enlarged when we watch the hand of God move in others.  Learn to speak boldly to people when their talent is on display.  Never fail to compliment one of God’s children when His gifts are front and center.

Lord God, Thank You for being a God of great gifts.  Through us, You show Your love for music, soaring voices, color. frequencies, drama and words.  You drew the blueprints for gems and ephods, for altars and even ask buckets.  My favorite and I wish I could have seen it, was the Great Sea. Nothing was casual.  Each item was thought out so carefully.  If we thought You put immense plans into temples and altars, we should have known each of us would be a grand design.  Thank You for that!

If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask himMatthew 7:11
