Our Faithful God

We are the hands and feet of Jesus on this earth.  Because we face challenges and hardships in our lives, we develop empathy and understanding hearts for all manner of suffering. We are the experience and testimonies that can bring the hope of Jesus Christ to hurting people.

People rebel. As children we rebel against parental restraints, as teens against most authorities and as adults against the government and taxes. But when we surrender to God, when we lay down our egos and selfish desires, we surrender at last to God’s grace-filled authority. At last wisdom can approach and teach.  God is our redeemer. He is our shield. Our rock. No question or accusation should ever move us off that truth.

Rebellion rarely ends well.  Even when things are good, when the blessings flow, mankind can sabotage their own happiness. It is almost always a result of ego and control. People repeatedly take God’s goodness, grab the reins of their own lives, and demolish all the good God intended to do for them.  He is patient.  He is faithful.  When He makes a covenant, nothing will keep Him from fulfilling His word. He has made many promises to us.  We can have 100% faith that He will keep His word.

Hardships and challenges have the power to strengthen us.  When people in church never go out into the world, when they stay safe and secure with church friends, there aren’t many tests to build character.  Seeking God through faithfulness, we evolve ever closer through diligence. Our God’s love is greater than His anger at the world’s sin and the World’s rejection.

Father God, Thank You for loving me through my rebellion, my procrastination, and my reluctance to boldly confront those who do not follow Jesus.  Thank You for leading me into my call and my obedience.  Your patience convicts me.  I think about Jesus writing slowly in the sand when He sees the woman caught in adultery being accused.  His advice that the first to throw a stone should be the one without sin simply takes our breath away.  Wisdom stops debates and conversation.

The Lord leads with unfailing love and faithfulness all who keep his covenant and obey his demands.  Psalm 25:10
