First Things First

Every day I spend putting God first, reading the Word, doing Bible studies and setting the day in motion with a devotional, is a day I can rely on more spirituality, more production and more powerful results.

I wonder what it would be like to wake up, smile, greet God and simply trust He has the entire day in His hands. No plan, no lists, no anxiety or clock, no schedule. Just me and God, along with a bit of praise and worship. Eventually we all have to go to work but if we spent one day simply communing with our Father, speaking and listening, we enhance our trust.  He has ever detail of our lives in His capable hands.

Distractions and busy work are mental parasites. They kill, steal and destroy motivation, creation, and dreams. It is the path of least resistance to ‘stay busy’ so earnestly we miss all the goals and testimonies God planned for us to accomplish and enjoy.

We say we know who He is. Never doubt that.  When that other voice, that enemy voice, speaks out loud that God cannot be true, that Jesus is a myth, a legend, tell that voice to shut up. Take control of your thoughts. Remember the exact moment when God courted you, leaned in and convinced you of His love.  We know. We believe.

We can be tempted, in moments of reflection on our lives, to apologize repeatedly for things we have done. But God has already forgiven those sins. He has thrown them into the sea of forgetfulness. We understand God’s gracious and forgiving Heart. If He has forgiven us, it is finished. Asking Him to forgive again means we do not have faith He did what He promised.

Lord God, Forgive my over thinking.  Forgive me when I try to insert myself into Your position, when I attempt to make the calls and decisions that are Yours too make.   Help me, Lord, to stay focused on the Kingdom goals, the lost, the hungry, the weary, and the broken.  May my love for my fellow human be the force that calls me forward, giving, sharing, feeding and exhorting.  Help me stay focused on my call and Your design for my life.  Thank You, Lord, for making me a part of Your plan.

No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, Philippians 3:13
