Timing
Once we understand God’s plan for the world, His detail and timing, we are more empowered and built up in our faith. What feels like forever is a moment in His view. But His words, His promises, His plan will always come to fruition. When we watch the world rebel and mock Him, when sin seems to prevail everywhere, we know God will not be mocked. He will move and He will always keep His word.
It is human to feel the struggle to do enough, be enough, perform enough. And all the while God is holding out His arms, telling us He loves us and we are chosen. Accept His grace! Let go of performance mode and, like Isaiah, say, “Here am I, Lord. Send me.” Learn to rest in joy, knowing He loves us just as we are.”
Feeling called, directed and loved is the joy of following Jesus. Knowing we are here for such a time as this. Knowing martyrdom is not dead, knowing these times are closing in on the end times, knowing we may be called to be more faithful and heroic than we ever imagined. Knowing we love God enough to be a remnant He needs at this time.
Obedience involves listening, asking questions, listening again, and finally once we are convinced we know what God is asking, to simply obey. No one persons efforts appear to be world changing on their own. But our God is a weaver. He threads our gifts together, weaving the lyricist’s words with the musician’s notes. Dropping an important message into the ears of a missionary who is meant to carry the lesson to the world. Bend to God’s will! He knows where all of this is going and He is prepared. When God’s perfect timing is met, God moves.
Lord of Lords, Help me to stay focused and understand Your timing. Sometimes I get excited and find myself running ahead of you, running ahead of Your plan. Help me stay focused, neither early or late responding to Your call. May I always see, hear and respond with vigilance, never missing Your timing and never leaving You wondering where I am. I take absolute joy in working with You and for You. Help me enter into this Harvest with enthusiasm, excitement and pleasure.
No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead. Philippians 3:13
