Focus on God
We love God, no matter what. What other people think or say about that has no relevance on our faith. We hear groups or individuals blaspheme His name or mock His followers. Maybe it’s a crude joke or a disrespectful statement about Christians. We walk away, knowing we should speak up, should defend our sweet Jesus. Confrontation is not easy. We shy away from guilt and humiliation. Pray for strength to speak up on the Lord’s behalf!
Our character and our immaturity will be tested! God not only wants to bless us, He wants us to grow in faith, mature in our grace and goodness toward others, and to walk in a pattern of trust and confidence because we belong to Him. It is immature to think we can develop character in a comfortable and unchallenged bubble.
Difficult seasons are a part of life’s journey. God tells us to pray for our enemies when we are challenged. Right now, we are living in tough times. We are called to pray for those in power at this moment, to pray for America and its traditions. Evil people seem to be in control but we don’t have a complete view. We have to pray for them to feel God’s power and love. Faith is vital.
Whenever I hear negative words about God, about Christians and even the church, I pick up the Word and let God speak to me. Or I make a list of the evidence of His miracles I have seen on my own. I’ve heard inspirational testimonies, seen healings, prayed earnestly for others and been lost in the glory of His Presence. What joy it is to discover I have drawn close to Him many times while in prayer. Trust Him. Let your love for Him envelop you in absolute confidence as rebellion runs wild in the streets.
Father, I’m grateful that focusing on You holds me close and safe. The pain I feel for these young God haters keeps my heart soft and keeps me on my knees for them. These are people who have almost exclusively grown up entitled and living blessed lives. Help me understand, Lord, how someone who was prayed for, loved, and probably led to You, could turn against those aunts, grandparents, great uncles and others who covered them in prayers all their lives. Help me pray that everyone who mocks You just to fit in with fad-filled rebellion, will hear You, see You and run to You in joy.
