The God Moment That Changes Everything
There comes a moment, no matter how hard we try to ignore it, when all our sins, our failures and our hungry and desperate acts are shown to be blatant rejection of the loving Father. We see how much we need God. This is a rare and love-filled gift. The idea our God is willing to embrace us and throw a welcome party in Heaven is evidence of His Grace!
We get alarms and warnings as we go through life. It might come as a feeling you shouldn’t sign a contract, a feeling inside that something is awry in a relationship. God is good and we do have a spiritual sense He expects us to use. If God says STOP…just stop.
Hardship can make the unsaved bitter and even a bit of a touchy, angry bully. Or hardship can make a Believer soft and malleable, armed with experience, victory and a testimony. We are wise to cherish the many lessons our God sends our way.
Pride is an ugly human condition. It can cause us to celebrate ourselves rather than our loving Father. It makes us take credit for God’s goodness and to feel we no longer need Him.
I spent a few years in the Catholic faith. It was a bit too structured and yet not exactly hands on with Jesus. I love the confidence of evangelicals. The idea we can have coffee with Jesus any old time we want. There is an intimacy that tends to hold us more accountable. Like with a parent, a loving relationship with Jesus is transparent and truthful.
We tend to resist change, fearing either failure or success. All my life I have resisted destiny more out of a fear of success. I do not like being in the spotlight. Not at all. Still, it is my job to follow God wherever He leads.
The prodigal son represents the true heart of God. Not just second chances. But third and fourth and more. It hurts God’s heart to lose even one of us. He longs to bring us to the Bridegroom’s feast. Let us not grieve His heart. Let us celebrate His gracious and enormous love and follow Him wholeheartedly.
God, I am so grateful for the moment I surrendered to Your love. Thank You for courting me with such love and purity that I could no longer resist. I enjoy peace as I follow You and I strive always to please You and reach greater potential than I did in my youth.
Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children. For what children are not disciplined by their father? Hebrews 12:7
