Redeeming Your TIME

The first mistake we make when struggling for time management, is to assume we’re in charge of it. Some days my ‘to do’ list is overwhelming. Bible reading, exercise, walking, praying, writing, family obligations and meals. But when I trust God, persistently pushing through each task, He has the power to make certain I finish everything. Time in the Word expands time for everything else.

We need to be cautious when committing to do something for someone. In Heaven speak, any commitment is a vow. We should never take vows lightly. We understand the power and value of marriage vows but all vows require our diligent obedience. If you say yes to anything, let your yes be yes!

Quiet time with God is enriching, uplifting and it always makes me long for more and more of Him. Our gift, our calling, is never for ourselves. We die to self, submit to the Father and complete the tasks He asked us to do. Obedience isn’t about following our desires, it is following His desires for us.

We tend to get scattered, trying to do too much. We seek God’s favor, man’s favor and recognition at work. Those who are truly effective have learned this imperative. Set priorities, stick to your plan and focus on one thing at a time. Rest is imperative. God not only provides our rest but He carefully teaches through His Word that we should take advantage of sleep and body restoration. It is easy to get dogmatic about the Sabbath. Better to respect it and rest in God’s provision.

Hurrying has been a lifelong habit for me. I pray to slow down, to be present every minute, and trust God that I am pursuing and hearing the right things at the perfect moment.

Dear Father, Right now I promise You I am going to do better with time. I am not going to say yes, every time I’m asked to do something. Help me refuse to over commit. When we cannot physically fit every obligation into a 24-hour day, we are saying yes to too many things. I thank You for the wisdom You keep speaking into my head and my heart. Help me be a more obedient listener.

A Time for Everything

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, ... Ecclesiastes 3
