When we become accustomed to God’s voice and the sound of spirit, we occasionally see or hear alarms and warnings. It might come as a feeling we shouldn’t get into a contract, a sense something is awry in a relationship, or an absolute warning to stay away from someone. God is good. He has given us a spiritual sense which He expects us to use. If God says STOP…just stop.
He consistently pulls us closer. Reminding us we are His children. Our sins, failures, and rebellious acts are a rejection of His love. When He reminds us how much we need Him, it is a gift both rare and true. The idea He is willing to embrace us and throw a party in Heaven the moment we surrender to His grace is wonderful to see.
Those who are outside His Kingdom, those who reject His voice, are battling their own confusion. In their rebellion, they can become bitter and angry. Vengeful. That same conflict can make a Believer soft and malleable, armed with experience, victory and a testimony. We are wise to cherish the lessons God sends our way.
Never allow ego to take credit for a victory God gives freely. Pride is an ugly human condition. It makes the non-believer rationalize rather than repent. And it can make a Christian take credit for God’s goodness.
Lord God, I want to thank You for staying close to me. I feel Your Presence and I know You are near. In the storms of life, both weather storms and the trials I have faced, I cherish Your hand on my shoulder. I live for the calm You bring and it buoys me up so I can comfort others. I am forever Your child, and I am grateful You called me to share my life with You for eternity.
Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence. .. Psalm 91
