We become arrogant when we decide we can or should do things all on our own. I love the words, “the weaker I get, the stronger I become.” God equips us for every challenge. To think it is all up to us, all our responsibility, is kryptonite to our destiny.
If all I get to conquer in my life is the love, I will do better than many. But I desire all the fruits of the Spirit. I want to bring peace and comfort and happiness to others. I want to be first to forgive, last to be offended and quick to encourage. Starting with love feels like a great place to start. I will trust God for those other spiritual fruiits.
The seasons of our lives are orchestrated by the Master of all time, God Himself. When we attempt to force circumstances out of Godly order, we fail more than we succeed. God prepares us for what is coming, through our reading, our encounters with others, and through every life moment. Trust His divine authority and preparation.
Goals ignite our lives. Careful plans and targeted steps are the way we reach new levels. Don’t let your light of passion flame out. Never abandon your objectives. If God’s gifts to us are love, grace and provision, our best gift to God is discipline. Discipline is the way we form good habits and carve a path to obeying God’s will. To sway left or right at all, to compromise His will and edge closer to sin and self-will, is to put our life’s call and our destiny in jeopardy.
Change is difficult. Try to change one thing at a time. Focus on the one thing. See the change. Be the change. Each small victory gives us confidence for the next level.
If we really listen for God’s voice, there are endless and thrilling opportunities waiting for us to explore. Neither age nor health nor education stops us. God equips us with everything we need.
Oh Lord God, I repent for all the times I get ideas, I call them God ideas and I run off on my own, claiming I am doing Your will. Help me to slow down and listen for Your clear direction. Help me to remember it is You who will declare an idea is from You or from my own imagination. I am to be Your hands and Your feet in this world. Father, let me be more help than hindrance, more Testimony than test for others, and more harvester than problem in Your Kingdom.
Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey—whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness? Romans 6:16
