When God Says No

It is inspirational to start the day committing your resources, talent and heart to God. When we begin each day in prayer, we are much more likely to follow God’s heart throughout the day.

Many times over the years I have remembered the lyrics to the song, UNANSWERED PRAYERS. We often beseech God to bless us with specific things we desire, understanding He sees the future and future possibilities. Sometimes He says ‘no’ because He is protecting us from something we cannot see. Always be willing to say, “Your will, Lord. Not mine.”

It is a joy to be touched with God’s will and His desire for our happiness. Gratitude prepares us to enjoy our blessings. Love of family, prayers for others, and sincere goodwill for everyone in our lives gives peace and thankfulness to every single day.

By staying focused on God, His call and purpose for our lives, we will always be less tempted by the things the world dangles in front of us. The world wants us to be programmed, to join the school of lemmings as they race mindlessly to this fad or the next. God leads us more gently. But if we don't learn to hear and know His voice, the lemmings will continue to call.

This is a powerful analogy. Spiritual pollution is sneaky and intended. Stay vigilant. Stay armored.

Father God, Help me to always appreciate Your love and provision. Every day, when I stay focused on You, I see and feel Your nurturing care, Your touch, Your warnings and hand of protection. I thank You for saying ‘no’ when I do not consider the pitfalls inherent in my prayers. Help me Lord, to willingly bend to Your will and show gratitude for Your omnipotent view. Thank You for all You do.

Thankfulness and Prayer

I thank my God upon every remembrance of you. Philippians 1:3
