Anger can put people off and keep them from respecting us, or even listening to us when we have valuable testimony or advice. God will gently remind us that loving others is second only to loving God. This scripture is a constant reminder we love God first, learn from human relationships second, and put others first whenever we can.
I regret every angry word that has ever leaped from my throat. I also regret every sarcastic remark, every insulting comment and every word spoken to others without love. Those memories make me want to fall on my face and live a life of repentance and true sorrow.
Once we conquer irritation, jealousy and anger, when we bend our efforts toward things we know God has asked all Christians to do, we find we have time to bless others, exhort them, and we can even care enough to help them with their goals.
Praying for others to be successful is an excellent way to grow in godly behavior. We all get inspiration, ideas we think have come from God. I cannot count the times someone’s face or name has come to mind. Maybe not the first time I have a random thought, but if I keep thinking about them I realize God wants me to pray for them.
Often I will hear that individual had dealt with an illness, a death, a job problem or something serious enough they needed to be uplifted.
Obedience is simply reasonable service, a quick compliance with what we feel God is asking us to do. He has gifted us with talents and ways we can serve within the Body of Christ.
Faith strengthens our spines. We find ourselves trusting God in the midst of challenging situations. Trust God no matter what.
Father, I know we are meant to serve as Your hands and feet here on earth, to cover out fiends with prayer, to help them when they need help and to let them know they are loved. Help me to always be the answer You wanted them to hear and the proof You are as close as the breeze that cools them in the night.
