Seen. Chosen. Sent
Imagine being in a large rambunctious family, each member loved, provided for, and offered education and promotion. You would welcome new members, excited for them to partake in the goodness of family. That is the situation we have in the Body of Christ. Never be afraid to offer the story of Jesus and His Love.
How awful it would be to reach Heaven, look around and not see the people you were chosen to witness to, the people entrusted to your care because you failed to speak Jesus to them because they might be offended. We would feel such heartbreak. We need to focus on every encounter. Make each person feel heard and seen. Distractions try to pull us away, to hurry us on. Remember the goal is the harvest.
I was not a hard case. I wanted to be convinced. I am grateful for every person who prayed for me to find Salvation. Starting with my Great Grandmother Sarah McNutt who prayed without ceasing that I would surrender to the Lord. For Janice Stubblefield who led me so close! These many people, some I knew were praying and some I did not, are a part of my great cloud of witnesses. They convict me to witness to those God has placed in my prayer care. I cannot bear the thought of discovering the ones I was meant to witness to are in hell because I was too afraid to lead them to Jesus.
I am convinced these are testing times, struggle times, even the end times. If we refuse to offer water to the thirsty, food to the hungry and Salvation to the lost, how can we stand in front of Jesus when that time comes? He knows we didn’t follow His request to see His beloved people Saved.
We are called to carry Jesus to the world. We can rationalize. We can procrastinate. It changes nothing. Imagine His sorrow that we chose to do other things with our time and we left witnessing to others to others
Dear Lord, the call is simple. We are to reach the lost and the struggling with Your Word, the testimonies from the Word, and the fresh and exciting testimonies from the lives around us. We are to tell everyone we can about the sacrifice Jesus made and the great love He showed when He died for all our sins. How do Christians reach people who have been told (and they believe) we are racist and homophobic? Help us, Lord, to sit down and talk. Ignite our empathy as we get to know each other. Let us love each other as we love ourselves!! That is the call; that is the mission.
