Christian Living

Christian life is not difficult.  It is true we often face mockery and disbelief in America.  I’m always surprised by that.  In my life, I had aunts and grandmothers who prayed for me and sent little Bibles on my birthday. Whenever I hear people being disrespectful, even threatening, toward Christians, I wonder if their older relatives failed to reach out to them.

It is a given when we send our children off to college, they can come home covered in liberal rhetoric.  I did.  My friends did.  Our universities have worked hard to take God out of our belief systems for a long time.  I think Academics get caught up in a world that bears little resemblance to real life.  They like to pontificate.  And eventually they fall in belief with their own pontification.

During Covid we heard the words, “It’s the science,” over and over again.  Science was used to club any spiritual leanings and beliefs out of our kids.  Nothing we are experiencing is coincidental.  This atmosphere is the result of years of planning.  Whether it’s Socialism, atheism, environmentalism or a culture bent on breaking every societal rule, it is absolutely a Christian responsibility to speak up for our beliefs.

We cannot be politically correct.  But we need to be kind.  When we’re strident, loud and filled with judgment, we simply end up getting our own Bible scriptures thrown back at us.  What would Jesus do?  Most likely he would talk about a better way.  A more peaceful way.  A life without chaos and confusion.  Other than that time in the temple when He threw the money chargers out, He preferred to tell people about His Father and righteous living.

When it comes to our children, if we’ve taught them love, faith and honor, they will almost certainly recover from university life rather quickly.  My father was more Archie Bunker than anything else.  But he believed in God and patriotism and hard work.  The apple truly didn’t  fall far from the tree.  By the time I’d been out of college two or three years, I discarded the liberal  thinking and the call to rebellion I’d been taught.

The American dream cannot survive in an atmosphere with no boundaries, no laws and no personal responsibility.  That’s why we have to stand up for our beliefs.  Our forefathers embraced God and included Him in every aspect of the nation’s foundation.  The Ten Commandments are sewn into the fabric of our government.

Can we explore philosophical debate?  Of course.  But when we throw out law, order, common sense and a willingness to live and speak civilly, we should understand division and anarchy will follow.
